Mike Menzies Collection

Fellow Calgarian and friend, Mike Menzies is a prominent author and collector of pegmatite minerals and varieties of quartz. A chemical engineer originally from New Zealand, Mike has been self-collecting minerals for over 40 years with notable success in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho, both the PC and Little Gem mines in Montana, in the Thomas Range in Utah and in the Alberta badlands. These Alberta specimens feature uncommon forms of quartz including fans, rosettes, hollow crystals, scepters and reverse scepters and pseudo-cubic chalcedony pseudomorphs. Along with self-collected treasures, Mike has amassed collections of specimens from Erongo, Namibia and of topaz.

Some of Mike's 2000 worldwide mineral specimens were featured in Mineral Collections of the Pacific Northwest - A Supplement of the Mineralogical Record, September-October 2019. We are very pleased to be offering some of Mike's collection for sale here to the public for the first time.
