Our commitment
We take pride in the quality and accurate presentation of every mineral and fossil specimen offered by Rocky Mountain Minerals and Fossils. Our goal is for collectors to be confident in both the specimen they select and the service they receive.
Please contact us if you have questions before purchasing. We are happy to provide additional information or photographs when available.
Processing and tracking
Orders are normally prepared and dispatched within 1–2 business days. All shipments include tracking. Once an order has shipped, tracking information will be sent to the customer.
How specimens are packed
Mineral and fossil specimens are individually wrapped in multiple layers of protective material. They are packed securely to limit movement during transit, and double-boxed when appropriate.
As every specimen differs in size, shape and fragility, packing methods are adjusted to suit the individual specimen.
To reduce unnecessary waste, we reuse clean, sturdy shipping boxes and packing materials whenever they remain suitable for safe shipment. Your order may therefore arrive in previously used packaging. Every reused box is checked for condition and selected to provide appropriate protection for the specimen inside.
Carrier liability coverage and signatures
Most shipments made using various services, such as Canada Post, includes up to $100 CAD of carrier liability coverage, subject to the carrier’s terms, exclusions and claim requirements.
Additional carrier liability coverage and signature service may be available at additional cost. Availability and limits depend on the destination, shipping service and specimen. Please contact us before placing your order if you would like additional coverage, a signature requirement or special arrangements for a high-value specimen.
Rocky Mountain Minerals and Fossils does not itself provide insurance. Any liability coverage is provided by the shipping carrier or an applicable third-party provider and is subject to that provider’s terms.
International orders
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, brokerage charges or other fees imposed by the destination country. Delivery times may also be affected by customs processing.
Calgary pickup and delivery
Free pickup is available in Calgary upon request. Free local delivery is available within Calgary city limits by arrangement.
Returns
If you are not satisfied with an undamaged specimen, you may return it for any reason by contacting us within seven calendar days of delivery.
For an ordinary return:
- · The specimen must be returned in the same condition in which it was delivered.
- · It must be carefully packed, preferably using the original box and protective packing materials.
- · The return must be shipped with tracking.
Once the specimen has been received and inspected, we will refund its purchase price. Original shipping charges are not refundable. The customer is responsible for return-shipping costs and any optional carrier liability coverage.
Please contact us at info@keithrocks.ca before sending anything back so that we can provide return instructions.
Damage during transit
Damage that occurred during shipping is handled separately from an ordinary return. If a specimen arrives damaged, contact us within 48 hours of delivery and provide clear photographs of the damaged specimen and the shipping label.
Keep the specimen and all original packaging while the matter is being reviewed. Do not return a damaged specimen unless we provide instructions to do so.
Verified shipping damage will be reviewed with the carrier or applicable third-party coverage provider. We will work with the customer toward an appropriate resolution.
