Vesuvianite - Sierra de Cruces, Coahuila, Mexico

A substantial golden-brown vesuvianite crystal with a robust, blocky form and strongly developed growth surfaces. The crystal ranges from translucent honey-yellow along its edges to deeper brown through the thicker interior, with stepped textures and a bright vitreous to resinous lustre.

The accompanying historic labels identify the locality as “Laguna de Jaco, Chihuahua.” This is a well-known older locality attribution used for Mexican vesuvianite and grossular specimens. Modern locality research places this material at Sierra de Cruces, east of Laguna de Jaco, near Hércules in Coahuila, Mexico.

This specimen comes from the Bill Rouslin Collection, where it was recorded as specimen #695. It is accompanied by the Laguna de Jaco collection label and an earlier label numbered SAM168.
