Tourmaline with Lepidolite - San Diego (KCSD) Mine, California, USA

An attractive, gemmy multi-coloured tourmaline crystal from the San Diego (KCSD) Mine in California, accented by delicate pink lepidolite crystals along the sides. The tourmaline displays subtle colour variation through the crystal, with good translucency and an appealing natural form.
A slight bend developed during crystal growth, providing an interesting record of changing conditions within the pegmatite as the crystal formed. The termination has also been naturally etched, creating additional texture and complexity while preserving the specimen's distinctive character.
The combination of colourful tourmaline and contrasting pink lepidolite makes this an appealing miniature from a classic California pegmatite locality. Mounted on an acrylic base.
