A fossil toe bone (phalanx) from a hadrosaur or "duck-billed" dinosaur, from the Alberta badlands. This specimen displays a broad, robust form with a pronounced concave joint surface, curved margins, and visible bone texture. These features give it a clear three-dimensional anatomical character.
As part of an articulated toe, this bone contributed to the support and movement of the dinosaur’s foot. Each pes (foot) had at least three digits (toes), each with a slightly different shape. This specimen is a "phalanx II or III" probably from "digit III". For wishing to learn more about these details, I highly recommend the "Guide to Common Vertebrate Fossils form the Cretaceous of Alberta" published by the Alberta Palaeontological Society designed with hobbyists and amateurs in mind.
An exceptionally well-preserved example, this hadrosaur phalanx displays clearly defined joint contours and fine surface detail. Its strong anatomical definition and Harvey Negrich Collection provenance make it a particularly desirable addition to an Alberta dinosaur collection.
Legal Status: This specimen is legally available for private ownership and resale under Alberta Disposition Certificate #001590. A copy of the disposition documentation will accompany the specimen. Learn more about Alberta fossils and the disposition process.
