Silver, Sarbay Deposit, Rudny, Kazakhstan

When I think of native silver, I typically think of the great Canadian silver localities in Ontario and the Northwest Territories or those in Mexico, Germany or Norway, but Kazakhstan? The Sarbay (or Sarbai) Deposit in north Kazakhstan is a large skarn iron orebody but it contains a vast array of other minerals (and elements) including silver. Our specimen is richly-covered in small native silver wires curling into all sorts of shapes. Fascinating to examine under magnification but certainly large enough to enjoy with the naked eye.
