An signed lithograph by famous Canadian mineral dealer Prosper J. Williams (1910-2001), depicting the San Francisco waterfront in 1973. Prosper, in addition to being one of the first to bring the mineral treasures of Tsumeb, Namibia to the collecting world, was also a talented pen and ink artist. This wonderful print was provided by his long-time partner, Sarah Topham, from her personal collection.
His fine linework captures the city skyline, Golden Gate Bridge, a sailboat, and birds above the famous bay in California. The expansive sky and lightly sketched water give the composition a quiet sense of space.
Printed on textured paper, numbered 15 of 500 and signed in the lower-right margin, this artwork offers a personal glimpse into Williams’ artistic interests beyond his work as a mineral dealer. It makes a distinctive companion to specimens from his collection, connecting collectors with another aspect of the man behind their provenance.
