An attractive rhodochrosite on quartz specimen from the Grizzly Mine, Colorado, USA, featuring distinctive pink rhodochrosite crystals prominently positioned on a contrasting white quartz matrix. I really like the naturally-etched surfaces on the rhodo which give it a lot of visual interest.
The rhodochrosite displays a soft salmon-pink to rose coloration and well-defined crystal growth, standing out beautifully against the bright crystalline matrix. The association of colorful rhodochrosite with quartz makes this an appealing example of a classic Colorado mineral species.
