Two minerals in one! Lustrous quartz crystals completely covering purplish fluorite on one side (the opposite side is a contact). This is a really pretty, cabinet-sized specimen and catches my eye every time I see it. The octahedral shape of the fluorite creates an intriguing substrate for the quartz and is attractive from every angle. This Moroccan locality is famous for its fluorites and is the only active fluorite mine in that country. Ex Rob Belcher. From: El Hammam Mine, Meknes-Tafilalet Region, Khemisset Province, Morocco.
Mineral: Quartz over Fluorite Locality: El Hammam Mine, Khemisset Province, Morocco Crystal System: Trigonal (Quartz) Mineral Class: Silicates Provenance: Ex Rob Belcher Collection Dimensions: 11.5 × 10.5 cm
