An attractive cluster of pyrargyrite crystals from the San Genaro Mine in Peru. Historically known as “ruby silver,” pyrargyrite is a silver-bearing sulfosalt prized by collectors for its distinctive deep red to dark metallic appearance and high silver content.
This specimen features several well-developed pyrargyrite crystals grouped prominently on a contrasting pale matrix. Under strong illumination, the crystals reveal subtle reddish tones characteristic of the species, while their metallic lustre and sharp crystal form give the piece excellent visual interest.
A fine miniature example of this classic silver mineral from an important Peruvian mining locality. Mounted on an acrylic base.
