A nice crystal of bluish-yellow sapphire from the famous Mogok Valley in Myanmar. This specimen shows multiple phases of growth resulting in a complex single crystal. The overall composition still shows a hexagonal shape that all corundum has. Of course it has a nice reaction when exposed to ultraviolet light as well. This piece was obtained by my friend and well-known Canadian mineral dealer Rob Belcher a few years back on one of his many excursions to Myanmar. Mounted on an acrylic base.
