An attractive corundum specimen, variety sapphire, from the famous Mogok district of Myanmar. The specimen consists of a substantial pale, translucent corundum crystal showing delicate lavender to pinkish-purple coloration, particularly visible around portions of the crystal margins. The crystal is mounted on an acrylic base.
The crystal has a naturally textured surface with areas of vitreous to adamantine luster. Its subtle pastel coloration and substantial crystal form make it an appealing example of sapphire-bearing corundum from one of the world's most celebrated gemstone localities.
