This is one of my favourite metallic mineral specimens in inventory. An attractive chalcopyrite and siderite specimen from the Kaiwu Mine, Hezhang County, Guizhou, China, featuring abundant brassy-gold metallic chalcopyrite crystals in a dense, highly lustrous cluster.
The specimen shows numerous well-developed chalcopyrite crystals with sharp angular forms and strongly reflective metallic surfaces. Siderite is associated throughout the specimen, creating a classic sulfide-carbonate mineral association. The rich golden coloration, complex crystal growth and strong metallic luster make this a visually striking display specimen.
