The late Garry Kolodinsky was a well-loved teacher in Victoria, British Columbia who amassed a sizeable and varied mineral collection over several decades. Garry, in particular, had a soft spot for azurite with a sub-collection of specimens from the world famous mines in Tsumeb, Namibia. This piece is typical of what Garry acquired: hand-sized specimens of massive digenite with sprays of azurite crystals with malachite. As in this case, malachite often replaces but retains the form earlier generations of azurite (called a pseudomorph). This is an excellent representation of a classic Tsumeb combination difficult to find in this size and price range. Dimensions: 5 cm x 5.5 cm x 8 cm
