A classic American copper-mineral specimen from the Blue Jay Claim in the La Sal Mining District of Utah, a locality well known for producing attractive azurite rosettes. This specimen features numerous deep-blue azurite crystals and small rosettes scattered across a richly mineralized matrix.
The vivid blue azurite contrasts beautifully with green malachite and areas of pale matrix. Particularly interesting is the fibrous habit of the malachite, which creates a finely textured surface and makes the specimen especially rewarding under magnification. With abundant mineralization and details to discover across the piece, it presents an attractive miniature mineral landscape from this classic Utah locality.
The specimen was likely collected in the 1990s or earlier. Ex Garry Kolodinsky Collection. From the Blue Jay Claim, La Sal, San Juan County, Utah, USA.
