An attractive aquamarine crystal from the renowned Shigar Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, a region well known among collectors for producing fine aquamarine and other pegmatite minerals.
This single crystal displays a delicate pale blue coloration with good transparency and a bright vitreous luster. However it is the terrific, natural etching that makes this crystal special. After this crystal grew the chemicals around it became caustic to aquamarine and began to dissolve it, but not completely. The result is a wonderful icy blue sculpture that tells a wonderful geologic story. Weighing 10.4 g, this piece is quite attractive in person and very special! Mounted on an acrylic base.
