This super cute specimen consists of a cluster of small, intergrown anatase crystals. Multiple terminations and nice adamantine luster add sparkle and considerable interest. Anatase is a polymorph of titanium oxide, meaning it shares its chemical formula with brookite and rutile but with a different atomic arrangement. In fact, anatase has some fascinating physical properties that can be employed in the electrical and ceramics industries, so do some extra research to learn something new! This specimen is just slightly larger than thumb-nail size and is mounted on an acrylic base. From: Cuiaba District, Gouveia, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
