A striking cluster of colourless, transparent to translucent fluorite crystals reminiscent of an icy sculpture. The specimen is dominated by a large, sharply defined crystal, accompanied by numerous intergrown crystals with highly reflective faces and attractive internal textures. At first glance, this larger crystal appears damaged but actually shows complex, natural edges and is complete. Additionally, well-formed black sphalerite crystals are sprinkled about one side of the specimen adding welcome contrast.
The Nikolaevskiy Mine at Dalnegorsk is a renowned Russian locality known for producing exceptional fluorite and crystallized sulphide specimens. Its colourless fluorite is especially admired for its exceptional clarity and sculptural crystal forms. Prices for these colourless fluorites have recently spiked so I do not expect this one to last! Mounted on an acrylic base.
