A dramatic, Chinese calcite specimen composed of numerous translucent white to pale cream crystals arranged in tall, radiating sprays. The thin-bladed crystals overlap in feather-like formations, producing sharply textured edges and brilliant reflections under direct light.
The cluster rises into several prominent points, with the tallest central spray creating an elegant plume-like silhouette. Its strong vertical form and delicate crystal structure make it an especially attractive display specimen. As a bonus, the calcite turns a beautiful red-pink under exposure to short wave ultraviolet light.
Another one of Steve Potvin's superb calcite specimens. Mounted on an acrylic display base.
