Aquamarine, Nagar, Gilgit, Pakistan

A true contemporary classic are the aquamarine crystals coming from the Nagar area of Pakistan. The colour, size and attractive placements with muscovite mica are truly dazzling and one of my favourite mineral combinations. This specimen is a nice grouping of four large aquas with a sprinkling of muscovite between the crystals. The aquamarines have razor sharp edges with no damage. The basal contact actually looks partially re-crystallized too. Perhaps difficult to see in the photographs are the nice striations on the crystals and come colour zoning as well.
