Vauxite, Siglo XX Mine, Bolivia
Vauxite, Siglo XX Mine, Bolivia
We pride ourselves on finding our clientele special minerals and vauxite certainly fits that criteria! Vauxite is a rare and beautiful phosphate with the very best coming from Bolivia. Our example is best described as a botryoidal crust of shimmering vauxite crystals with a striking blue colouration. Although the sample comes with labels saying "Huanuni, Bolivia" I suspect the proper locality is the nearby Siglo XX (Twentieth Century) Mine in Llallaua, Bustillo Province, Potosi Department, Bolivia (the Siglo XX Mine is the type locality for vauxite). This is a very uncommon offering so as they say in the collector car business: "try to find another" so don't let this one slip away! Dimensions: 5 cm x 7 cm
