These odd tourmalines first came out of Myanmar almost 20 years ago and while they were once abundant they are less common on the market today. Often having a "mushroom cap" termination, they are certainly distinctive and a must for a thorough tourmaline collection. This specimen has as dark raspberry colour and is accurately classified as a rubellite. Upon close inspection, this cute little crystal displays intricate patterns difficult to describe much less explain. Perhaps it is best just to enjoy the handiwork of Mother Nature! Mounted on an acrylic base. Ex Rob Belcher collection. From: Khet-Chal, Molo Momeik, Myanmar. Dimensions: 1.25 cm x 1.5 cm
