Tourmaline (variety Elbaite), Agua Boa, Minas Gerais, Brazil

Cute, multi-coloured Elbaite tourmaline mounted on a glass base. The body of the crystal is a steely-blue, a similar colour to aquamarine, which quickly grades into a pleasing brick red shade at the termination. There is a tiny, smaller Elbaite growing on the side of the main crystal. This is an attractive piece which probably came out of Brazil in the late 1980s. Ex Mike Menzies collection.
