Tourmaline on Smoky Quartz, Shigar Valley, Pakistan
Tourmaline on Smoky Quartz, Shigar Valley, Pakistan
Very beautiful black tourmaline crystal (variety schorl) jetting out from several smoky quartz crystals with white cleavelandite tufts attached. The schorl exhibits sharp crystal faces, a nice termination and terrific striations that dominate the specimen's aesthetics. The smokies also have sharp edges and are terminated and a pleasing angle to the centerpiece schorl crystal. The entire specimen is well-balanced and quite attractive. When I purchased this specimen for my personal collection repairs were not disclosed but I cannot rule out the possibility due to the crack halfway up the schorl crystal. Ex Keith Mychaluk collection. From Shigar Valley, Haramosh Mountains, Gilgit-Balistan, Pakistan. Dimensions: 5.5 cm x 8 cm x 9 cm with the schorl crystal measuring 6 cm tall
