Tourmaline, Himalaya Mine, Mesa Grande, California

Here is an older specimen of tourmaline (variety elbaite) from the world-famous Himalaya Mine in California. This specimen is terminated on both ends but with different habits. The crystal is gemmy showing several different shades of green and a thin band of red. Minor  amounts of matrix are attached along the crystal. which also exhibits a slight natural break and rehealing. From the collection of Sarah Topham and likely collected in the 1970s.
