Smithsonite, Kelly Mine, New Mexico

Smithsonite has a wonderful variety of forms, colours and famous localities. Arguably the Kelly Mine in New Mexico encapsulates both the top form, colour and luster for the species. Botryoidal crystals of smithsonite richly cover two sides of the specimen. This cabinet-sized display piece is an old-timer from our friend Sarah Topham and her mineral-dealing partner Prosper Williams. Often we see hemimorphites being misrepresented as Kelly smithsonites but this is the real thing with nice provenance. Dimensions: 4.5 x 6.5 x 8 cm
