An exposed vein of native silver richly-covers the primary face of this specimen. There is a 90 degree bend in the silver, which leads me to believe it was filling a series of fractures in the host rock. The silver is partially exposed on the reverse side of the piece as well. The silver is both present as wires and small masses. I am not positive but a coating of some sort may have been applied to this specimen long ago in an attempt to prevent the silver from tarnishing but I am not certain. Silver was the primary commodity mined in the Beaverdell area and this piece is probably from the Highland Bell mine. Ex Garry Kolodinsky collection. From: Beaverdell, Greenwood District, BC, Canada. Dimensions: 5 cm x 5. 5 cm x 7 cm
