Ruby in Marble, Dattaw Mine, Mogok, Myanmar

Mogok in Myanmar (formerly Burma), is one of the world's foremost ruby localities from both alluvial and hardrock (marble) deposits. Many rubies from the marbles are incomplete and do not show crystal faces, however, our specimen has a terrific termination and several, well-defined faces. The colour is classic "pigeon's blood red" and contrasts nicely with the white marble host rock. Minor muscovite mica is also present. From Dattaw Mine, Mogok, Myanmar. Dimensions: 2.5 cm x 3 cm
