Rhodocrosite, N'Chwaning, South Africa

We are very proud to offer this beautiful rhodocrosite from the Black Rock Mine at N'Chwaning, South Africa. Prosper Williams was a Canadian dealer famous for brining the mineral treasures of south west Africa to the rest of the world. Among these treasures were the bright red, scalenohedral rhodocrosite crystal clusters from the managanese mines of the Kalahari. All the crystals are sharp and very gemmy, perhaps even showing a tiny amount of colour zonation. This particular piece has been in Prosper's partner's collection (Sarah Topham) since the 1970s. Truly an impressive specimen that fits into any high-quality collection. Not only are these difficult to obtain, I cannot imagine one with better pedigree. Note the specimen had a tiny amount of white puddy near the base from a former tag (since removed). This puddy has now also since been removed since the photos and video were taken.
