Rhodocrosite, Capillitas, Catamarca Province, Argentina

The Incas apparently sourced rhodocrosite from Capillitas and it has been worked since the 13th century. This is a nice slice, polished on both sides, with great colour and size. Certainly a very attractive specimen!  From Capillitas Mining District, Andalgala Department, Catamarca Province, Argentina. Dimensions: 4.5 x 11.5 cm
