Quartz on Pyrite, Spruce Claim, King County, Washington

A large (+3 cm) pyrite dodecahedron with several quartz crystals adhering to one side. This specimen was recently acquired from our friend Sarah Topham, a former Vancouver mineral dealer active in the 1980s. An old label accompanying the pyrite states it was obtained from the University of British Columbia Geological Museum; probably also in the 1980s.

The pyrite does have several natural, healed fractures but the quartzes are sharply terminated. There is a contact point on the "bottom" of the specimen.
