Polybasite, Proano Mine, Fresnillo, Mexico

I acquired this terrific silver sulfosalt from my friend Al Homenuke for my personal collection but have decided to let it go. This specimen is richly covered on all sides with polybasite and probably other related silver-antimony-arsenic minerals. It appears that these minerals were all encased within calcite and have since been etched away to reveal them. This gives the piece good three-dimensional interest, especially under magnification. There are several crystal habits present with my favourite being the silvery platelets gathered in a few locations (see close-up photos). From Proano Mine, Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico.
