Nanotyrannus tooth (1.75" long), Hell Creek Formation, Garfield County, Montana
Excellent quality Nanotyrannus tooth (the smaller cousin of Tyrannosaurus). The tooth is 1.75" (4.3 cm) long and shows evidence of natural tooth wear (from chewing on bones!) as well as a gash mark from another tooth. As the tooth was shed it was likely gouged by a neighbouring tooth in the jaw, leaving the mark. I love specimens that tell a story and this one certainly does. A first class specimen.
Collected by our friend Jason Phipps on his ranch in Garfield County, southwest of Jordan, Montana within the Upper Cretaceous Hell Creek Formation. Jason collected this a few feet beside me while we were digging with him in July 2023. I have included photos of the tooth being excavated by Jason. Other than PaleoBond stablizer, this tooth has not been restored or touched-up in any way. It is solid and can be easily handled. SOLD
