Kunzite, Konar, Afghanistan
Kunzite, Konar, Afghanistan
Nice pink spodumene (variety kunzite) with sharp crystal edges, termination and phantom too! Kunzite is my personal favourite mineral. There is something about the striated, bladed crystals and the pinks and lavendars that scream beautiful to me. The exotic and impossible-to-visit localities many originate from (like the mountains of Afghanistan) add to their mystic. Now that the government put larger restrictions on explosives usage, it is my understanding that fewer minerals are coming out of Afghanistan since miners cannot advance their mining projects. I expect to see fewer and fewer of these on the market. This is a very nice example of the species and the locality. From Konar, Afghanistan. Dimensions: 2.25 cm x 2.5 cm x 6 cm
