A very special piece with much to describe in terms of both mineralogy and ownership. Several habits of quartz are present with typical trigonal prisms, a few flattened crystals and a prominent Japan Law Twin in the centre. There is a dusting of the red mineral hubeite - an uncommon sorosilicate - on much of the quartz. Hubeite is named after the Chinese province of Hubei, from which this specimen was derived. Sharp, brassy cubes of pyrite, to 0.75 cm, adorn the "base" of the specimen. Recently from the Mike Menzies collection, but previously acquired from Dan & Diana Weinrich and, before them, noted collector Lloyd Tate. Specimen is accompanied by a Weinrich label. From Fengjiashan Mine, Edong Mining District, Daye Col, Huangshi Prefecture, Hubei Province, China. Dimensions: 6 x 8 x just over 4 cm tall
