Hausmannite, N'Chwaning Mine, Cape Province, South Africa

The Kalahari desert in South Africa has several famous, world-class manganese deposits with the N'Chwaning Mine being arguably at the top of the ladder. Hausmannite is a relatively rare manganese oxide. Our specimen shows nice, lustrous tetragonal crystals of hausmannite growing on a matrix of massive "manganese" ore. Photographs are challenging to make and this specimen is much better appreciated in person. Fantastic crystallization! Dimensions: 5 cm x 6 cm
