Grossular (variety Hessonite), Jeffrey Mine, Quebec, Canada

A classic Canadian mineral from a classic Canadian mineral dealer! Along with diamonds from Canada's north and ammolite from Alberta, hessonite garnets from Quebec are certainly one of the most attractive gemstones our great country has to offer. No longer available due to a cessation of mine at Jeffrey, these old specimens are all we can collect now. This specimen is from our close friend Sarah Topham, who was Prosper Williams' partner many decades ago. We have included Prosper's old label (likely pre-1980) with original $50 price tag! This specimen is richly covered in striated orange hessonites on matrix; brilliant luster and very showy! The largest crystals are just under 1 cm. Own a piece of Canadian mineral heritage.
