A thin vein of native gold cuts across matrix and can be differentiated from the more silvery colour of arsenopyrite. These two minerals are common stable mates as gold has an affinity for arsenic. The Johnny Mountain mines operated briefly from 1988-1993 in the beautiful and remove Iskut River area, about 100km northwest of Stewart, British Columbia. The mine produced over 90,000 ounces of gold, almost 20,000 ounces of silver and 2.2 million pounds of copper during its short life. Ex Garry Kolodinsky, Mark Mauthner collections. From: Johnny Mountain Mine, Iskut River, British Columbia, Canada. Dimensions: 4.5 cm x 5 cm
