A large cabinet specimen of fluorite with three-dimensional character. Fluorite completely surrounds this piece providing excellent geological context. Every cavity and layer shows deposition of small green fluorite cubes. Being from the Rogerley Mine, the green fluorite, of course, partially fluoresces to blue in daylight (certainly one of the most impressive light phenomena in the mineral world). Also as per Rogerley, several fluorite crystals are twinned. Due to its size and irregular nature, one could trim this specimen into several smaller ones to maximize display quality but I am a purist and enjoy its current context. Ex Garry Kolodinsky collection. From: Rogerley Mine, Weardale, County Durham, England. Dimensions: 7.5 cm x 11 cm x 13 cm
