One of my favourite pieces from the newly acquired Garry Kolodinsky collection is this fluorite from Illinois. I like the dark burnt yellow colour which gives the specimen a mysterious look. There is good purple colour-zoning near the crystal edges and adding further interest is the skeletal growth patterns on most of cubes. The luster is very good with sharp crystal faces and only a few very small nicks. Note the occasional tiny chalcopyrite crystal growing on the fluorite as well. The largest cube is almost 3.5 cm wide. From Cave-in-Rock district, Hardin County, Illinois. Dimensions: 5.5 cm x 6 cm
