Edingtonite (cabinet-sized), Ice River Alkaline Complex, Near Golden, British Columbia, Canada
Edingtonite is a rare, barium member of the zeolite group and specimens from the Ice River Alkaline Complex near Golden, B.C are known for producing the best-of-the-species. Edingtonite rarely comes on to the market and these are first-class specimens. Collected by Allen Ingelson decades ago in rough, high altitude terrain and offered for sale for the first time.
One of my favourite specimens showing evidence of edingtonite filling fractures on calcite. Richly-covered with edingtonite crystals 0.5 - 2mm with great luster. One end of the specimen is filled with chunky calcite crystals perhaps filling a vein. A handsome piece with edingtonite crystals covering all sides.
