Edingtonite (cabinet-sized), Ice River Alkaline Complex, Near Golden, British Columbia, Canada

Edingtonite is a rare, barium member of the zeolite group and specimens from the Ice River Alkaline Complex near Golden, B.C are known for producing the best-of-the-species. Edingtonite rarely comes on to the market and these are first-class specimens. Collected by Allen Ingelson decades ago in rough, high altitude terrain and offered for sale for the first time.

This superb piece is carpeted with hundreds of 1mm sized edingtonite crystals on calcite. A showy piece for the species.  I particularly like the linear crust of edingtonites on the "front" of the specimen which indicates the mineral was filling-in fractures; I like specimens that tell a geologic story.
