This specimen has three dragonfly larvae of the species Libellula doris, derived from 16 million year old Miocene sediments. Each insect is well-defined and contrasts very well with the shale matrix making for an attractive piece. Collected in the backcountry, on private land, in Piedmont, Italy! Certainly an exotic location for us North Americans! We are fortunate to have a small selection of these attractive and uncommon fossils which we will have up several upcoming shows. Dimensions: 9 x 12.5 cm (the largest insect is 1.5 x 1.75 cm)
