Dioptase, Tsumeb, Namibia (Ex Prosper J. Williams)

Dioptase crystals aesthetically scattered on altered carbonate matrix. There is a calcite druse underlying the dioptase which was likely part of a small vug or cavity in which the dioptase grew. The dioptase crystals range in size from 1 - 5 mm (0.1 - 0.5 cm). Unfortunately several crystals are damaged but the colour contrast and overall composition seem to overcompensate for this. Probably from the late 1970s, this is another piece we acquired from Prosper J. Williams' former inventory. The specimen comes with one of Prosper's old labels. From Tsumeb, Namibia.
