Large didelphodon tooth from the Upper Cretaceous Hell Creek Formation. Didelphodon,  meaning "opossum tooth", was a badger-sized marsupial (about 1 m) that lived contemporaneously with the dinosaurs. The animal was interpreted to be a carnivore/insectivore with teeth designed for crushing bones and shellfish. This tooth is 1.5 cm long (that's almost 3/4" !) with double root and and beautiful black enamel. The tooth crown shows wear from usage. From the Jason Phipps Ranch, Garfield County, southwest of Jordan, Montana. Dimensions: 1.5 cm long x 0.6 cm wide. SOLD
