Clinoclore is a relatively common mineral in the chlorite group, but there is nothing common about the Jeffrey Mine in Quebec. Formerly a large producer of chrysotile (aka "asbestos), the mine also yielded an impressive array of collector-quality minerals. Here we have a fun combination of dark green clinoclore cyrstals resting on mostly colourless grossular garnet. This specimen has fascinating fluorescence under long wave (365nm) ultraviolet light. I have debated keeping this specimen for myself! Ex Garry Kolodinsky collection. From: Jeffrey Mine, Val des Sources (Asbestos), Quebec, Canada. Dimensions: 6 cm x 6 cm
