The Morenci Mine has been in continuous production for over a century and continues to be one of the most productive copper mines in North America. Morenci is famous for beautiful copper species, in particular, chrysocolla. This cabinet-sized specimen is richly-covered with a mix of botryoidal chrysocolla, azurite and malachite against a black coating all on sandstone. Other species are likely present but I have not been able to identify all of them, including the black coating. Ex Garry Kolodinsky collection. From Morenci Mine, Greenlee County, Arizona. Dimensions: 8.5 cm x 13.5 cm
