Cerussite, Tsumeb, Namibia

The mines at Tsumeb, Namibia yielded many diverse and beautiful minerals with cerussite certainly being amongst the most memorable. Our latest cerussite offering does not disappoint and is easily the largest and most imposing specimen we've marketed. This monster crystal weighs almost 400 grams! It is noticeably heavy for its size hinting at the lead content within its chemical structure. There is a natural, matte frosting on the crystal. Unfortunately there are a few small nicks on the crystal but they reveal the lustrous, colourless interior. There is a contact point at the bottom of the specimen. This is another specimen from Sarah Topham's personal collection and was last on the market in the late 1970s and is arguably the best in the lot we've offered. From Tsumeb, Namibia.
