Calcite on Fluorite, China

A large Chinese fluorite specimen with one side liberally sprinkled with calcite crystals. The fluorite consists of large, light green cubes which are gemmy and lustrous.  Under long wave (365nm) ultraviolet light the fluorite turns purple while the calcite is slightly red. This is an attractive cabinet-sized specimen weighing about 1 kg. Note that there are a few nicks along some edges of the fluorite. Ex Garry Kolodinsky collection. Dimensions: 8 cm x 8 cm x 16.5 cm
