Calcite on Cuprite - Tsumeb, Namibia

This substantial specimen from the classic Tsumeb locality features a massive cuprite matrix richly covered with yellow to creamy-white rhombohedral calcite crystals. The calcite forms an attractive crystalline coating across the contrasting reddish-brown cuprite, giving the piece excellent colour and textural contrast.

The specimen comes from the collection of Sarah Topham and was formerly in the collection of Prosper J. Williams. The original Williams collection label is included.
